PHILOSOPHY

Captain William Duane Sousa, Jr. has been chartering for over thirty years.  His fishing career began in Newport at the “Forty Steps” with his father.  His first vessel was a 1956 Chris Craft that he worked and lived on - a tried and true Rhode Island Fisherman.  Today Big Boy Sport Fishing charters operates a thriving summer fishing business out of Galilee, Rhode Island, Pt. Judith, also known as Narragansett Rhode Island, which is only a half hour from Newport Rhode Island, as well as a winter fishing business in Southwest Florida.  By having two locations - and two comfortable and safe boats, Captain Sousa and his guests can enjoy deep sea fishing all year long.  The Captain’s guests will be the first to tell you that you can’t find a more knowledgeable Captain who will accommodate your deep sea fishing needs for your Rhode Island or Southwest Florida charter.

Captain Sousa and his son and First Mate Jason Sousa target all the fish species that the cool waters off the coast of Rhode Island have to offer - Shark, Tuna, Striped Bass, Blue Fish, Tautog, Black Sea Bass, Scup, and Flounder, just to name a few.  Their 30 foot Chris Craft, the pride of the fleet, is fast, safe, comfortable and reliable.  Complete with fly bridge, full cabin, head, and large cockpit, guests fish in comfort - everything is included for those who board the Big Boy II - rods, reels, bait, tackle, ice, licenses, etc.  Just jump on board and get ready for a great fishing expedition.  Whether a novice fisherman, or a seasoned veteran, Captain and crew will put you on the fish. 

Our Florida vessel is a 24’ Sea Pro that will get you Offshore to the warm waters in the Gulf of Mexico where you can try your hand at the many species the Gulf offers up - Tarpon, Grouper, Kings, Barracuda, Sheepshead, Red Fish, Snook, Snapper, Tuna and Shark - just to name a few.

Both vessels are equipped with radar, VHS Radio, GPS, and all other necessary electronics, and vessels are licensed and Coast Guard inspected.  Safety has been and will continue to be the Captain and crews first priority.
